NANS Enugu State Chapter virtual learning: Federal Co-operative College Oji River emerges first in the Economics Department.

In the wake of a pandemic that is dominating the world in March 2020, the National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS) Enugu State Chapter, organized virtual classes for students to in Enugu State and environ. This was done as palliative measure to engage students with positive learning as schools and public places were and still on lockdown (though there is a gradual ease of lockdown at the moment).

The student engagement on e-learning became imperative and of course the only solution to engage students at home while maintaining the necessary guideline as prescribed by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). This made the introduction of this form of learning timely.

However, participants and students of the state were dazzled as NANS Enugu State Chapter encouraged students that participated in the virtual learning with cheque and gifts as means of econium.

This also brought smile in the faces of Federal Cooperative College Oji River as Miss Oluikpe Ogechi Happiness emerged first in the Economics class of the program.

Miss Ogechi who is a final year student of the college from the department of Cooperative Economics and Management was indeed happy owing to the fact that it was keenly contested amongst students of tertiary institutions in the state.

Receiving the price, she thanked the organizers of the event for being innovative by engaging students even when during the lockdown.

Ogechi also thanked the management of her school: Federal Cooperative College Oji River for the immense contribution they are putting on in ensuring students obtains the best in academics, structures and moral. She further stated that the college proclivity in the pursuit of academic excellence gave rise to her distinctive performance.

In a related development, the Student Union President of the College, Comr. Jude Igiliegbe appreciates NANS for putting up program like this; owing to the fact that it has reshaped the academic performance of students positively even in a time of a pandemic. He also congratulates Miss Ogechi whose victory made him proud among the cliques of SUG presidents in Enugu State and NANS in general. He further mentioned that her victory is an indication that FCC Oji River, aside from having good structure, is also concern in proper tutoring and guidance of her students for academic excellence.

It will be recalled that the presentation of prices was part of the highlights of the Town Hall Meeting organized by the Special Adviser to the governor on Student Affairs with theme “Student Engagement for Nation Building” which was held Nike Lake Hotel, Enugu.

The town hall meeting which witnessed a very impressive audience had in attendance pool of dignitaries from the corridors of power in the state.

Amongst them were: His Excellency Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwanyi represented by Hon. Manfred Nzekwe the Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Mike Ogbuekwe – Senior Personal Assistant to the Gov. on Agriculture. Others include: Hon. Arinze Offia – Senior Personal Assistant on SME and Barr. Lewis Abonyi – Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board.

Executives of NANS Enugu Chapter and heads of Student Union in the state including students were also in attendance.
